Our last visit to Michel Tosar’s place only confirmed what we already knew: the change in direction has been a great success. Abandoning so called ‘gastronomy’ for the grill and la plancha, Michel has certainly changed the style and when you sit down to eat the content is a success too: it’s good stuff! So, yes, the name has changed. And yes gastronomy has been set aside in order to return to simpler dishes. But when someone has a passion for great work, respecting good produce and using it just right, when generosity is the motto, nothing has really changed—we are simply being well fed… in a different way. And this different way is reflected in the dining room which is now dominated by the grill and plancha. And the result is clear: there is a master at work, using unbeatable produce and impeccable cooking times. There are no fireworks, no bluffing—just good food that is authentic and fresh.
This couple’s credo is commendable and they deserve all the plaudits they are getting. Food lovers never get it wrong. And neither do we…
