Tucked away in a backstreet in Braine-l'Alleud’s old town, this restaurant run by Valérie and Philippe Meyers is turning out to be one of the places you can really trust on the Walloon gastronomic landscape.
It has recently been redecorated, in warm, cosy colours – convivial is the word. Have a look at Philippe Meyers’ collection of Michelin guides and take some time to appreciate the exceptional photos of chefs at work. And there’s a good eye at work here, too, we can assure you. It’s been over five years since our hosts opened up their Braine-l'Alleud address. It’s worth mentioning how they got here; he worked in some of the best restaurants, such as le Barbizon and also with Eddie Van Maele; she worked with Pierre Romyer. Imagine the expertise that Philippe and Valerie have accumulated. In their tidy little restaurant, with seating for only twenty, Philippe refines his French cuisine with verve, visiting and revisiting the classics according to the season – it’s cooking that always stays true to character. No swashbuckling here, nothing out of context, everything is just as it should be. On the floor, Valerie looks after the customers with brio - tailor-made and delicate. You can tell we have a soft spot for this place.
