This is the latest nugget to be added to Liege’s gastronomic scene. Open for several weeks now on the busy chaussée de Tongres, a stone’s throw from the bustle of the city, Ô de Vie has a young talent in charge, Olivier Massart. Olivier is no stranger to readers of Sensum.be, since he was responsible for the fine dishes in Lucana at Wanze no so long ago. To refresh your memory, Lucana is Gianni Caruso and he’s Olivier’s brother-in-law.
So now Olivier is flying his own flag. This eclectic artist produces modern cuisine with a contemporary zip to it: good produce, novel textures in cooking seeped in creativity. This young man has talent and dares to revel in surprising combinations and inventive associations, reflected marvellously in his modern version of the steak tartare tartufata, in translucent green apple; the ocean perch oven-baked with a gentle almond sauce; and the slow-cooked lamb covered in crusty breadcrumbs, in hot chilli butter.
