Le Fruit Défendu is clearly a restaurant that stands out from the gourmet mass of the Châtelain district. With decor that is delicate, playing on the warmth of natural wood, the statement is unequivocal: this a Brussels bistrot. The setting is noble, ideally suited to the core of the place - an open kitchen, with all the soul and charm that accompanies it. And we have a soft spot for cooks who open up their work to their guests, allowing them a glimpse of artists at work, to appreciate their timing or perhaps detect the detail in the technique. Working without a net, you might call it.
But first and foremost le Fruit Défendu is an alchemy between two special people, Pascal in the kitchen and Tinnie on the floor. He blossoms in the kitchen, inspired by the best produce dictated by the markets and his creativity takes flight to conjure up dishes that are good to look at and cooked just right. The menu/board sometimes changes between the midday and the evening sittings. And she is the most delicate of hostesses, generous, polite and her smile magnifies the effect of the food produced by Pascal. Suffice to say, we like it.
